DevOps & Cloud

Infrastructure that helps teams release and operate with fewer surprises

Douwyn designs CI/CD, container environments, cloud configuration, Cloudflare, and monitoring around real risk. The aim is repeatable delivery, earlier visibility into failure, and a known recovery path when something goes wrong.

Context / fit

Infrastructure becomes a risk when only one person knows how to deploy or recover it

A system can appear stable for a long time while remaining difficult to change because deployment is manual, configuration is scattered, and failure signals are unclear. Hidden dependencies emerge when an urgent release is required.

Appropriate DevOps does not mean adding more tools. Douwyn starts with how the application creates value, acceptable disruption, current operating capability, and long-term cost before choosing an automation level.

  • 01Production deployment depends on manual steps that are difficult to reproduce.
  • 02Development, staging, and production differ in uncontrolled ways.
  • 03The team knows the system is failing but lacks useful logs, metrics, or alerts.
  • 04Cloud cost, backup, security, or incident responsibility is not understood well enough.

A strong fit when you need to

  • 01

Standardize build, test, and deployment for an operating application.

  • 02

Containerize with Docker or improve consistency between environments.

  • 03

Design or review cloud infrastructure, domains, DNS, CDN, and Cloudflare.

  • 04

Add monitoring, backups, runbooks, and risk-appropriate recovery planning.

Capabilities

DevOps and infrastructure capabilities

Tools follow operating requirements rather than using complexity to signal modernity.

  1. 01

    CI/CD

Conditional build, test, and deployment pipelines with appropriate access and version traceability.

  2. 02

    Docker and runtime environments

Standardized containers, dependencies, configuration, and health checks that reduce environment drift.

  3. 03

    Cloud infrastructure

Compute, database, storage, networking, and access designed around load, data, and realistic budget.

  4. 04

    Cloudflare and edge performance

DNS, TLS, CDN, caching, WAF, or rate limiting configured for the application and content profile.

  5. 05

    Monitoring and reliability

Logs, metrics, alerts, backups, recovery checks, and runbooks focused on business-impacting situations.

Deliverables

What the engagement can deliver

Scope can be a targeted improvement or an operating foundation for a new product.

Current-state and risk assessment
Documented architecture, dependencies, release process, access, failure points, and priorities.
Infrastructure and pipeline configuration
Reviewable configuration or setup for builds, deployments, domains, services, and required environments.
Environment and secret management
Separated configuration, limited access, credential rotation, and fewer secrets outside controlled systems.
Monitoring, backup, and recovery
Useful signals, owned alerts, retention policies, and recovery steps appropriate to the data.
Runbooks and handover
Deployment, rollback, common incident, scheduled check, and responsibility guidance.

Outcomes

Outcomes the work is designed to support

Absolute uptime is not promised; the work is designed to reduce risk and improve systematic response.

01

Repeatable releases

A defined process builds and deploys known artifacts without depending on memory.

02

Safer changes

Checks, environment separation, permissions, and rollback options help contain release impact.

03

More visible failure

Logs, metrics, and alerts provide diagnostic context instead of only showing that the service is unavailable.

04

Clearer cost and responsibility

Resources, providers, backups, and support boundaries are visible enough to guide operating decisions.

Founder-led delivery

Infrastructure designed by someone who understands the application

The founder reviews application architecture, data, and release behavior before changing infrastructure. This avoids optimizing one layer while increasing complexity across the system.

  • No 99.99% uptime promise without the architecture, budget, and on-call process to support it.
  • No Kubernetes or complex platform introduced before the need is demonstrated.
  • Important production changes require validation and rollback planning.
  • Support hours, incident responsibility, and provider dependencies remain transparent.

Process

Infrastructure improvement based on risk

Changes are divided into controlled steps so an optimization project does not become a production incident.

  1. 01. Assess

Collect architecture, traffic, data, deployment, access, cost, and available incident history.

  2. 02. Prioritize

Rank risks and define verifiable operating goals for the current phase.

  3. 03. Design the change

Prepare configuration, pipeline, migration, rollback, and observation before touching production.

  4. 04. Implement and rehearse

Apply changes within a controlled scope, verify the system, and exercise important rollback or recovery steps.

  5. 05. Document and hand over

Complete dashboards, alerts, runbooks, ownership, and a prioritized list of future improvements.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01Which cloud platforms does Douwyn work with?

The choice follows the current system and requirements. Douwyn can work with cloud infrastructure, VPS, managed services, and Cloudflare, and will not recommend a provider move when the benefit does not justify the risk.

02Can you improve a live system without rewriting the application?

Often. Pipelines, configuration, observability, caching, or backups can be improved independently, but dependencies and tests must be reviewed so infrastructure changes do not expose application failures.

03Can you guarantee zero-downtime deployment?

Not before understanding the architecture, database, and traffic. Some systems can support strategies that reduce or avoid disruption, but conditions, risks, and rollback must be stated explicitly.

04Is security part of DevOps scope?

Yes at the operating layer, including access, secrets, TLS, dependencies, networks, logging, and edge configuration. Penetration testing or deeper compliance work requires separate scope and suitable specialists.

05Does Douwyn provide 24/7 operations coverage?

Not by default. Support scope and response windows must be agreed clearly. If continuous coverage is required, Douwyn will help assess an appropriate operating model or specialist partner instead of making an unrealistic commitment.
